Our greatest goal is to give you the healthy, straight, beautiful smile that you've always wanted. Our practice will work with you every step of the way to make sure that your orthodontic care is as rewarding as possible. Our practice utilizes the latest technology, offering a variety of safe and gentle treatment options to give you the customized, individual care you deserve.
Every smile starts with an initial consultation!
When you arrive for your complimentary exam, you will be greeted by our friendly staff who will help you feel comfortable and introduce you to our office. Our treatment coordinator will review the Patient History Form with you and discuss your questions and concerns. To ensure that your time is used in the most efficient manner, we ask that you complete the Patient History Form prior to arriving at your first appointment. If you have X-rays from your dentist, please bring those with you as well.
Patient History Forms can be obtained two ways:
- A form will be mailed to you prior to your first appointment.
- Forms can be downloaded and then printed from our website.
Dr. Barrish, Dr. Lehnes or Dr. Sittmann will then perform a thorough examination and determine whether orthodontic treatment is necessary. If orthodontic treatment is recommended, diagnostic records will be obtained. These records include photographs, X-rays, and impressions for study models. Diagnostic records can be taken at the initial visit, or a subsequent appointment can be made for this procedure.
After obtaining diagnostic records, Dr. Barrish, Dr. Lehnes or Dr. Sittmann will carefully analyze the information and prescribe a treatment plan to correct the orthodontic condition.
A consultation appointment will be scheduled, at which time the treatment coordinator and doctors will thoroughly explain the proposed plan and will provide a written outline as well as the fees involved and payment options. When patients are ready to commence treatment, the appropriate appointments will be clearly explained and can be scheduled.
If Dr. Barrish, Dr. Lehnes or Dr. Sittmann determine that future orthodontic treatment may be indicated but believe that it is in the patient’s best interest to delay treatment and allow for additional dental development, the patient will be placed on observation status with our office in order to evaluate development.
We realize that our patients have busy lifestyles. The sequence of steps we typically follow in gathering the necessary administrative and clinical information can be adjusted to fit your schedule and comfort level.
Visiting the orthodontist about every four to eight weeks is an important part of your orthodontic treatment. Our practice will work with you to make sure that your appointments are as convenient as possible. When scheduling appointments, please let us know what days and times work best for you.
We understand that “life happens”! If you're running late or need to reschedule, please let us know and we will do everything we can to accommodate you. When you're ready to schedule your first appointment, contact our practice and our friendly scheduling coordinator will assist you. We're looking forward to working with you.
Visiting the dentist during orthodontic treatment
It is very important that you continue to visit your family dentist once every six months, even during your orthodontic treatment, for teeth cleanings and routine dental checkups. If extra dental care is needed, we will be happy to coordinate with your family dentist to make sure that you are receiving the best care possible.
